CANCER SUPPORT
Jenny has been supporting those with a cancer diagnosis for many years now and works effectively with every phase and type of treatment. She has developed her practise to meet the needs of those who are:
- Looking to feel more settled and prepared amid medical appointments, testing, scans and the whirlwind of reorganising life that usually precedes the beginning of treatment. This stage is often stressful, overwhelming and with a necessary focus on the practicalities of what will be required.
- Amidst treatment and looking for support to feel stronger or to regain a greater sense of well-being despite the rigours of treatment. At a time when clients will often feel toxic, out of sorts or discombobulated, Jenny is known for her ability to support with the re-engaging of a more solid sense of self and well-being.
- Post treatment and looking to rebuild and rejuvenate.
Whilst she offers counselling as part of her services, she has learnt that what is called for is usually more immediate to addressing the physical impact of the treatment process and that any counselling required usually occurs in the spaces that arise during the course of caring deeply for the body.
Jenny has shared numerous instances where her clients experience significant breakthroughs. These moments often involve the surfacing of pent-up emotions, the release of long-held tensions, or profound insights and realisations, that can be life-changing in their significance.
These are usually not in designated counselling sessions but occur naturally while the client is supported to care and nurture themselves throughout the process of medical treatment.
At a practical level, Jenny offers a range of services including:
- Oncology Massage – a gentle, non-invasive, safe and deeply nurturing massage that is adjusted to be appropriate for any stage or type of treatment.
- Light lymphatic drainage (not usually needed until later for those who have had substantial lymph node removal).
- Gentle, effective massage and connective tissue support for healthy scar resolution, either post-mastectomy, or post-reconstruction
- Support to resolve cording and other contractive responses post mastectomy or other related surgeries
- Support for the body to best manage chemotherapy and radiation, allowing the person to restore a sense of well-being, beyond what is occurring in the body
- Counselling services
- Naturopathic support for the body as needed.
