About Jenny’s approach…

Jenny grew up in the bayside suburbs of Melbourne, in a supportive family where the awareness of eating healthy food and being active were features. In her late teenage years, she found herself experiencing some minor but niggling health complaints and was unable to resolve them using available medical treatment. She found medication would allow her to be relatively symptom free for short periods however always with a rebound worsening afterwards.

Her first experience with a naturopath was at the age of 19, whilst suffering a debilitating flare-up of symptoms. The consultation lasted an hour and consisted of a line of questioning about aspects of her lifestyle that might be contributing. This was the first time she had considered such an approach and she found it supportive and eye-opening. To consider such things made complete sense to her and sparked an interest in the profession as a potential career. Within a few weeks, she was enrolled to begin studying and spent the next four years immersed in a course she found fascinating and engaging.

During her studies and in the years following, she applied everything relevant to her situation, getting significant improvement at times, but never managing to achieve full resolution. After ten years she realised that the application of the best of natural medicine, even in combination with the best of conventional medicine, still was not offering the whole picture.

During the early 2000’s Jenny began exploring some of the less tangible aspects that might be impacting her health, recognising a link between what might generally be referred to as ‘stress’ and other emotional states, with the worsening of her symptoms. This began a period of beginning to delve deeper into what made her tick, so to speak, what exactly was the stress and what were the triggers for it. One thing that become clear was that when she felt more settled and content within herself, her symptoms would reduce, giving instant feedback that become invaluable in exploring what it was that was ‘unsettling’ her about life.

She came to experience and understand that we each have an essence, a fundamental inner-most part of us, that when connected to, creates a sense of settlement within that doesn’t just allow for healing to occur within the body but also provides a clarity of mind that was very supportive in navigating life effectively and with confidence.

She discovered this was the missing link and not only was it the impetus for the full resolution of her now long-standing ailments, but this became the basis for approaching what her clients presented with.

Jenny had always disliked an over-reliance on supplementation, which she saw becoming increasingly a hallmark of the naturopathic approach. Her new approach allowed for the use of remedies or dietary changes to be minimal and secondary, and to this day many who consult with her do not even realise she is a fully qualified and experienced naturopath.

She is well known for effectively addressing many commonly presenting ailments and is accustomed to working alongside established medical care.

She has a solid respect and appreciation for the place this aspect of health care holds, knowing her work is most powerful as a complementary addition and not as an alternative.

This applies to all clients including those diagnosed with cancer, whereby she offers a wide range of complementary supports to their medical treatment plan.

Jenny has built a strong client base across Brisbane and beyond that includes people from all walks of life and professions and she is consulted for a wide range of reasons. For some, a physical ailment presents that requires addressing, for others it may be a short-term life-situation that is troubling or difficult to navigate, and for others, it is because they realise that in the world as it stands, staying true to oneself can be a challenge that sometimes needs support.

“It is important for our starting point in consultation to be that we are not fundamentally broken, nor is our worth based on our behaviours, good or bad. There is an essence to us underneath that is always intact, and once re-connected to, allows the truth of who we are, and of the situation at hand, to be more clearly seen and felt.”
